Wave is the song I feel most connected to on the album. It doesn’t sound quite like any other song that I’ve ever had a hand in making and its writing process was one of the most unique creative experiences in my life so far.

15 YEARS OF GO TELL FIRE TO THE MOUNTAIN

I want to get spooky for a moment. I am writing this fifteen years after “Go Tell Fire to the Mountain" was released. I was twenty then. I am thirty-five now. I have lived a life of experiences that have fundamentally reframed how I see it all — the whole arc of it taking shape, as if guided by something I could not have planned and would not have believed if you had told me.
There will be those who will reach for a comfortable way to dismiss what does not fit their picture of who we are or how we are told life is supposed to be. I have made my peace with that. I know what I have lived. I know what I have experienced. I know who I am. That knowledge does not require anyone else's agreement.
Let's start close in.

The fool is one of those special songs that just appeared almost fully formed whilst jamming in the weeks before we went into record with sonic boom. It is a simple, sweet love song that leans into rock ’n’ roll cliché, giving voice to the archetypal holy fool - one who yearns after their lover as a path toward union with the divine.
